(1/24 - Smalspoor - Jacky Molinaro)
The scene portrayed is an old and small brickworks as it would be at the end of the
1950’s. Saint-Aubin is located in the Pas-de-Calais (North of France) some 15km
from the sea in verdant hill country.
The brickworks has 40cm gauge system to carry the clay from the quarry to the
processing plant and to take the newly made bricks to the kiln. There is an engine
shed to house and service the locomotives.
The track plan is a double switchback permitting the line from the quarry to descend
to the brickworks.
The scenic section is currently one board. Many 16.5mm gauge ("OO" and "HO")
components (chassis and wheelsets) from Hornby and Bachmann have been used
with handmade bodies. Wagon are modified Bachmann "On30", the track is Peco,
and Tortoise motors operate the points and the unloading system.
Real clay bricks, wood, and corrugated metal have been used in the construction of
the buildings. Scenic work uses static grass from Heki, material from Lars op 't Hof
Scenery, Martin Welberg, Heki, and trees of Zeechium with added leaves. The
photographic backdrop is printed on heavy paper.
It is a pleasure for me to come from France to take part in the exhibition.
